Why Do You Need to Find Your Target Market?

If you’re putting out content on social media, and you don’t know who your target market is, you’re wasting your time. It’s time to find your target market!

If you’re talking to everyone, you’re talking to no one.

In network marketing, we used to think that everyone was our target market.

“If they can fog a mirror, they’re a lead.”

“If they have skin, they’re the perfect customer for my skin care products.”

“Got legs? You need my leggings.”

Not only is this wrong, it’s hurting your chances of finding your BEST customers and business partners.

When you know who your target market is selling gets so much easier.

  • It’s easier to create content.
  • Your ideal leads will reach out to you for more information.
  • Making sales becomes a natural conversation because you already know so much about this person and what they need.
  • You’ll sign up the right people, instead of people who never do anything.

What Is A Target Market?

A target market is the specific group of people you want to reach with your social media posts, stories, videos, messages, and any content you put out on the internet.

So WHO is this group of people exactly? Who do you want to reach? What specific group of people is your target market?

Who is the perfect person that you want to work with — either as a customer or as a business partner?

Release the Magic!

When you know who your ideal person is, you can create content, like social media posts or videos, that speak exactly to them.

When you know their likes, dislikes, problems, and concerns, you can address them in your content and help your target market!

They will feel like you’re talking to them directly. It’s much more personal. They’ll reach out to you because they fell like you know them.

Have you ever been listening to a video and thought, “Yes, that’s exactly what I’m going through! How does this person know my problem so well?”

It feels like magic! But it’s not… the person knows their target market and their problems.

Your leads will think you're magic

This builds the “Know, Like, and Trust” factor.

When you have a conversation with them, they will already trust you.

When someone feels like you understand them, and they know, like, and trust you, making sales becomes a natural part of the conversation. You already addressed their concerns in your content. Now you can help them with your products or your business.

Sometimes they’ll just ask you how to buy or how to sign up because they already love what you have to offer and they trust you.

Brainstorm Your Target Market

Think about what value, products, or services you already offer. Decide how you want to serve your target market.

Then think about who you want to serve. Who are they? What’s their gender, family situation? What are their main concerns? What keeps them up at night?

Use this downloadable worksheet to find your target market and get to know them.
