You need a plan for posting new content every day.

As you move into marketing, and away from prospecting, you realize you have to create “content” daily. Content is any information you share with your following – Facebook posts, Instagram posts, stories, YouTube videos, emails, or podcasts.

The best content will educate, inspire, inform, and entertain your prospects to keep them coming back for more. The platform you use doesn’t matter nearly as much as being consistent and specific to your ideal client.

But how will you come up with ideas every day?? Don’t worry, boo, I gotchu.

Step 1: Create a “Magazine” for Your Ideal Client

If your ideal client picked up a magazine at the grocery store, what would be in it?

Now, you’re not actually going to put a magazine together. Hang with me here…

Think of your content and your brand – your Instagram feed, your Facebook page, your YouTube channel, your blog – like a magazine.

Thinking of your brand like a magazine makes creating content more fun and more focused at the same time. Who doesn’t need more focus?!

Pick 5 categories for your magazine.

Your categories help you know where to focus when searching for new ideas (it makes it faster, mamas!) Your content will be about these 3-5 categories 99% of the time.

Now when someone goes to your IG feed or your blog, they know what to expect. People will search you out for your content when it’s focused on a few niches.

Side note: Posting consistent, congruent content matters more than which platform you use.

Your categories should be loosely related. If they’re part of your life and your business, they will be. Watch the video for more explanation of this.

Build the Know, Like, Trust Factor

Having more than one thing you talk about helps your followers get to know the real you, not just what you sell. People don’t want to be sold something 24/7. That’s just a long commercial. Mixing in other things you love will help your audience get to know, like, and trust you.

Even if people don’t want what you’re selling (yet), they’ll keep watching you to see your kids, your pictures of the beach, or get your latest recipes. If they keep coming back for more, there’s a better chance of you getting a new customer or team member. Yesss!

When I first started my blog, I knew it would be about network marketing. But it was boring (for me) to always talk about such a narrowly defined business. I branched out into social media topics and book reviews. My family is a huge part of my life (obviously) — Mom’s can’t talk about running a business without talking about their family. That’s real life.

Your categories can be related to what you’re selling, like personal development books are related to network marketing or like losing weight might be connected to your products. One category could be your personal life, your dog, your kids, or where you live. Those things are related to what you sell because they’re part of you and what you do every day.

Think about a cooking magazine, like the Pioneer Woman. You pick it up for the cooking articles and recipes, but it’s fun to hear about her kids and the farm, too. And you might buy a few pots and pans while you’re there!

WARNING: Don’t be too broad. When the Pioneer Woman started, she didn’t talk about Halloween costumes, like she does now. She talked about cooking. If you have too many categories, your audience won’t know what your brand is about. It will be confusing and diluted. Keep it on topic at first, and expand as you grow.

Create a vault of content ideas

It’s time to start to create your Never-Ending List of content ideas! Download the attached worksheet and write down your 3-5 categories.

Here are some category ideas:

  • Your Product/Service
  • Categories related to your product/service
  • Family
  • Spouse/Relationship
  • Kids
  • Pets
  • Home Decor
  • Hobbies & Interests
  • Favorite things – like coffee, tea, sports
  • Geographic location
  • Health
  • Fitness
  • Social Media Strategies
  • Recipes

My 5 topics are network marketing, social media marketing, #Momlife, book reviews, and health.

Now add 3 post ideas for each category. What are 3 things you could show or teach your audience about that category? Chances are you have way more ideas than 3. Write them all down!

Step 2: Poll Your Audience for More Ideas

Next, go to social media and poll your audience. No matter how big or small your following is, they’ll have insights, ideas, and questions that never crossed your mind.

Post the question: “Ask me anything about _______,” (one of your categories).

You can repeat this question with each of your categories. Add the ideas to your Never-Ending Content List!

If you have a small audience, you can also go in to niche groups on Facebook and ask what people struggle with or what they want to learn. Sometimes you don’t have to ask. Read the posts and you’ll know! People love to complain about their problems. #sadbuttrue

Use the search bar in the group and type in “struggling”, “issue”, or “problem” and see what comes up.

For example, if you’re in the weight loss niche, and you go into weight loss groups, you’ll have endless ideas — how to drink enough water if you hate drinking water, how to lose 100 pounds, how to lose the last 10 pounds, how to cook vegetables, etc.

Step 3: Use the Internet to Give Your Ideal Prospects What They Want

What does your ideal prospect need help with? What are they asking themselves? Use Google, Pinterest, and YouTube to get a sneak peak into what they’re already searching for.

Type in the search bar of any of these platforms and see what auto-fills. This generates topics that people are searching for that you haven’t thought of.

BONUS: These searches also deliver a SOLUTION to the problem, so you can get ideas for that, too!

Think about how you can create content around these ideas and put your own unique twist on it. Add these ideas to your list.

By now, you should have 10+ ideas for each category.

This Never-Ending Content List will be your go-to source when it’s time to create posts, videos, and content for your business. Isn’t it a relief to have ideas for content that feels worthy of sharing and that your audience needs? They’ll be so grateful to you for providing inspiration, solutions and entertainment tailored to them.

Never wait for inspiration to strike or get stuck in the scroll again.
