new years resolutions and a morning routine2017 New Year’s Resolutions

Did you make New Year’s resolutions for 2017? I love making resolutions and this year I came up with my favorite one so far. I don’t make resolutions to come up with 600 ideas of new things I should be doing. I like the whole process. I like to reflect on the previous year — what went well and where I fell short. I review my long term goals, like where I want to be five years from now. After reflecting on these things, then I come up with what I want to work on during the new year. My resolutions are often habits I want to develop, not just a goal, like lose 10 pounds.

Developing A Morning Routine

This year, one of my resolutions is to come up with a morning routine that I love and do it every morning. I started solidifying my morning routine after reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. He has some great ideas about how and why to do a morning routine the way he does it. He takes the most powerful morning practices ever done by the world’s most amazing and productive people and does them all in one morning routine. While I love his system, it doesn’t matter what you do for a morning routine, but it makes a huge difference to have a productive routine you follow daily. It sounds cliche, but it really does change the energy and productivity of your whole day.

The Miracle Morning

Hal’s Miracle Morning routine uses the acronym “SAVERS” – silence (meditation/prayer), affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing (writing). I’ve been doing it off and on for a couple months, but have done it every day for the past week. I’m getting so much more done in my business. I have 4 kids and getting important things, like exercise and writing, done early have been huge! If I don’t get my writing done early, it doesn’t happen. Whenever I think I’ll have time to get stuff done in the afternoon, something always comes up. Or I tell myself I’ll do it at night, then I’m exhausted. If you have a busy life (who doesn’t), using your morning wisely is key.

Did you set any New Year’s Resolutions that you would like to share? I’d love to hear them!

Do you have a morning routine? What do you do? What do you like most about it and what would you like to change?

If you got value from this post, please share it. Thanks!
