Have you been thinking about video marketing for your home business? Do you want more people reaching out to you and asking about your products or your business?

Watch my video below for 4 reasons you should use video marketing for your home business, even if you’re nervous to be in front of the camera and put yourself out there.

#1 – People are Searching for Answers

The first reason you should use video marketing to promote yourself, your brand, and your business online is because people are looking for help. In your videos, you’ll teach people how to do things. Like in this video, I’m teaching you why you should use video marketing in your business. People are looking for solutions to their problems and you can offer them the solution.

When you want to know something, what do you do? You go to Google. You go to YouTube. You go to the internet to figure out how to do things. So do your prospects, customers, and business partners. They’re looking for answers to their problems and your video can be the solution.

** Don’t miss Bonus Reason #5 at the bottom of this post! **

Why is YouTube so powerful?

  • YouTube is the #2 most visited website in the world on the internet. (In the video I said YouTube is #3, but that was old data. YouTube is #2). You can shoot a video on your phone and upload it to Facebook or any social media site, but you want to put your videos on YouTube.
  • YouTube gets one Billion unique visitors a month. That’s not one person going there five times. That’s one billion unique people going to YouTube every month, looking for answer to their problems. They want to be entertained, educated, find a how-to video… they want you to show them how to do something. It’s a very, very powerful website.

People go to Facebook to be social. They go to look at their friend’s pictures or to show people the cool vacation they’re taking. People go to YouTube for answers.

With YouTube, if somebody is looking for an answer to their question and your video is there to answer it, YOU are the answer to their problem. Providing answers put you in a more respected position than on Facebook where you’re interrupting them. On Facebook your product post, your business video, your ad is interrupting their socializing.

Last week, my husband used YouTube to fix our dryer, instead of hiring a repair guy or buying a new one. We spent $8 instead of $250 or $1250. You can be the answer to someone’s problem. Prospects have a different mindset when they’re on YouTube, which you can use to your advantage.

Use Traffic That’s Already There

When you’re trying to generate leads online and get people to come to you, you have to get in the traffic flow. There’s a huge flow of traffic on YouTube. If you can put your video in the way of the traffic, it’s much easier for you to get found.

Even if you have a blog, chances are there isn’t a lot of traffic there. If you post on your blog and hope people will go and opt in, it isn’t going to happen because you don’t have the traffic.

If you put your video on YouTube, you’re putting yourself into the stream of traffic, and you don’t have to go out of your way to pay for that or find that. It’s already there.

#2 – YouTube is Free!

We’re moms and stay-at-home entrepreneurs. We’re getting started on a shoestring budget. You’ve put some money out to get started, and now you don’t want to spend a bunch of more money to generate leads for your business right in the beginning.

YouTube is free. Creating a video is free. I’m creating this video on my cell phone, and I’m using a tripod that we already had for our family. Even if you have to buy one, they’re like $30.

Getting started with video marketing is free. I upload the videos. I edit the videos and upload them right from my phone. I throw it up on YouTube and then learn some behind-the-scenes strategies for getting more traffic and more views, but it’s all free in the beginning.

#3 – Everyone is Doing It (Hear me out…)

Everyone is using video for their business right now. You don’t necessarily want to do everything everybody else is doing, but online businesses are using video. Offline businesses are using video. Realtors, network marketers, affiliate marketers…. Every industry you can think of is using video. You want to stay relevant. You want to provide what your customers are looking for, and video marketing for your home business will do that.

#4 – It Builds Rapport like a Boss

Video marketing for your home business builds a connection and rapport with your prospect. When I’m talking to you on video, you can see me and how goofy I am — that I laugh, use a lot of hand motions, and how I move. I’m building a connection with you. You feel a little bit more like you know me, like me, and trust me. If you don’t like me, then you can leave and that’s fine.

If you find my information valuable and you like listening to me and learning from me, then you’ll come back for more. Video does that with your prospects.

People do business with people they know, like, and trust. Video starts to do that with your customer before you ever talk to them, before you send them an email, or ask them to opt into something.

When you develop connections with the people that you’re interested in working with, they may eventually become your customers and business partners. Most other mediums can’t do that. An email, a Facebook post, even an Instagram post does not build connection like video.

Aside from face-to-face,

nothing builds a connection and rapport like video.

BONUS! #5 – Video Marketing is Less Scary Than Live Video

Live video is the rage right now, and I admit… it’s the fastest way to get attention, new followers, and leads.

But! A lot of people are terrified of live video (if not you, maybe your team members). Pre-recorded video marketing is the perfect way to start generating leads, learning how to use your camera/phone, and getting used to being on camera before committing to live videos.

Record and upload 10-20 pre-recorded videos for your business and see how it goes. You can test the lighting, the sound, what you say, keeping your train of thought, using notes, and what gets the most engagement in a controlled environment. If you decide to do live videos, you’ll already be a pro.

You Need Video Marketing for Your Home Based Business

You — yes YOU — should be using video in your home business, even if you’re a stay-at-home mom, if you don’t think you have anything to say, or you don’t think you can do it. You totally can. It’s an awesome way to get started in your business.
